GAME DAY GLOSSARY

Welcome to the GDG Blog!

Fans of all genders and backgrounds cheer together at a game

Welcome to the Game Day Glossary blog!

Here, we will expand on our weekly GDG terms, providing you with background information, examples, and other relevant information. Be sure to check in with us every Wednesday, here and on social media, for a new sports term!

What is Game Day Glossary?

Every week, Sugar & Sports chooses a wacky sports term to share with everyone. Since our community consists of sports fans with various levels of expertise, we aim to educate our audience and even the playing field (pun intended) and make becoming a sports fan less intimidating. And let’s be honest, some of these sports terms are so strange, even avid sports fans may not have heard them!

From “can of corn” to “double-double” we already have many additions to our Game Day Glossary on our social media platforms. (Speaking of which, if you’re not part of the community already, click the icons at the bottom of the page to join!) In this blog, we’ll be able to go more in-depth and open up a conversation about these terms!

Making Sports More Accessible

Too often people who are new to sports, whether it’s watching from the sidelines or competing on the field, feel left out because they don’t understand the ins and outs of the game. They are made to think that sports are for straight men and that there is no room for them to feel part of the conversation. We at Sugar & Sports are here to change that narrative! Sports have the unique ability to bring people from varying backgrounds together. Our goal is to create a platform where there is no question too simple, no sport too niche, and no cheer too loud. Welcome to the community, we’re so happy you’re here!
