The NFL’s Most Charitable Players

The NFL’s Most Charitable Players

Have you ever heard people complaining about how much money NFL players make? I know I have – they make a ton, and the average player makes up to six figures per year. If you have talent, you’re probably going to bring in tens of millions, and that’s nothing to turn your nose up at.

While some are definitely skeptical of whether or not they’ve earned that kind of scratch for throwing a ball, I think you’ll be pleased to find out that not all NFL players hoard their earnings. In fact, some are quite generous with them. We’re going to take a quick look at a few of the most charitable players in the NFL and some of their greatest contributions. You might just be surprised at some of the names on our list.

Ndamukong Suh

Team: Miami Dolphins

While he definitely has a reputation as one of the tougher players out there, he’s also got a reputation for being kind. As a matter of fact, he is considered to be one of the most charitable players in the NFL, having donated a full $2.6 million to the University of Nebraska (the college that he attended), and he donated $250,000 to his old high school. In addition to that, he has started his own foundation, the Ndamukong Suh Family Foundation which works to benefit the disadvantaged.

Peyton Manning

Team: Unsigned

You may know Manning as a super bowl winning quarterback (and rightly so), but he’s also raised $2.5 million for the Eli Manning Children’s Clinics. In addition to that, he donated more than $1 million to his alma mater.

Aaron Rodgers

Team: Green Bay Packers

Here we have yet another NFL quarterback whose level of generosity is never in doubt. He donates time and resources to multiple charities and was even given an award for doing so. He also played Celebrity Jeopardy and raised $50,000 to fight childhood cancer.

Tom Brady

Team: New England Patriots

Tom Brady has been both hated, loved, and made serious fun of, but none of that has stopped him from giving millions of his own dollars to worthy causes. Even as a paid speaker, he donates the money he would have earned back to the organizations, or to nonprofits.

Andre Johnson

Team: Houston Texans

Andre Johnson of the Houston Texans is known for having taken a group of abused children on a Toys R’ Us shopping spree. The Texans player gave the children 80 seconds to fill up their carts with anything they wanted, and at the end, he paid a total of $19,521.

It is important to note that while we have listed only a few good examples here, and this type of generosity is not uncommon in the National Football League. Many players work to provide money for charities around the world, from research for diseases, to housing for the homeless, and much, much more.

Some of your favorite players are the most generous, so start researching some familiar names: you never know what you might find if you look hard enough, and you might just learn something new about the people you’ve idolized for years.
